Getting Ready!

The ladies prepared for the event in the upstairs gathering room {where we had the rehearsal dinner}. The guys prepared in a room on the third floor {sort of we call "the offices"}. It turns out the guys had too much fun upstairs. They created this game that involved a ball, a small trampoline, and a target drawn on a chalk board. Apparently, Donald & David came up with it, which doesn't surprise me one bit!

Neat things about that morning:
  • Mom & daughter time at the Aveda salon downtown to get our hair and makeup done for the big day.
  • The girls brought Starbucks. A woman that was at the counter actually paid for it and told them to tell me that she would be praying for our ceremony and our marriage. I cried so much when Ju told me that story!
  • Jon had given his gift to me the night before the wedding. He purchased vow books from Etsy. We wrote our vows in the books and a letter that we each read that morning before the ceremony. He also gave me a rock with our names and the wedding date engraved into it. It was so neat to read through our vows before the ceremony and also to read a sweet letter written from each other.
  • I asked Jon to put the full length mirror in the room where the ladies were getting ready so we would have it. He wrote a sweet little note on the mirror for me to find when I got there.

Vow books.
Jon wrote little notes to me each day in March for 26 things he loved about. I put them in a little book with pictures to give to him as his wedding gift.

My vow book, the rock Jon had engraved, and a journal I gave to Jon {I had been writing it in during our engagement}

Something old, borrowed, blue, and new!
  • My wedding gown {new} was purchased at David's Bridal. It was the first gown I tried on. I tried several others that night. We left and came back 15 minutes later to purchase the dress.
  • I found my shoes {new} online at DSW. I fell in love with them and will never pay that much for flats again - but hey, it was my wedding day and the splurge was well worth it.
  • My parents purchased my earrings from Reed's Jewelry. The center is aquamarine {something blue & my birthstone}. They also purchased the bracelet for me {pearls for Jon's birthstone}
  • I had two pins on my bouquet - both contributed to me by my grandmothers. {old & borrowed}
  • The 3 pins I wore in my hair were found off Etsy. I love them!

prior to the ceremony - I saw Jon's hair and started crying. go figure. ;)
Ceremony Details!
  • Jon designed most of things we used for the wedding {save the dates, invitations, and the programs}
  • The bouquets and other wedding flowers {reception, too} were done by Brooke, a friend of my parents from church. She did such a wonderful job!!
  • Candles galore! My grandfather made the wooden spindles we used as candle holders.
  • Two memorial candles were set up in honor of our grandparents who had passed. {Pop - my mom's dad, Pa & Ma - Nancy's parents}
  • Jon and I decided that the unity candle and communion were two things we wanted to incorporate in our ceremony. Communion was the first thing we took part in after we were pronounced husband and wife.

Pictures!

All of our wedding photography was done by Julie Atkins and a second shooter Christine Parks. Both Julie and Christine were friends of ours from college. We are so thankful for all of the hard work they did to capture such special moments for Jon and I to look back on and remember the day we truly became one.
