A Week of Events.

 Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to our dads!

Jon and I went over to my (Val) parent's house this father's day. Dad did what he does best and grilled steaks! Yum. It was great to get to hang out with my parents some and spend the day celebrating!

We are blessed to have two great dads who are so willing to teach us those much needed life skills and little tricks that come in handy. Thanks to you both for being so awesome!

Fun in the Nursery at Radius!

Monday was Jon's Birthday!

Happy birthday shout out to my awesome husband! He's pretty amazing, and I'm glad I could bring in year 24 with him... and since year 20! We've definitely come a long way since year 20. We've grown so much, and I can't imagine what other kind of growth and maturing God has in store for us and our future!

The ladies at the bank spoiled Jon with cake for his birthday, so I decided to go with little cupcakes and candles. Jon has been wanting new shades, so I gave him a gift card to American Eagle so he could pick out his favorite ones. He's also been wanting bikes for us to ride around town. Our budget is small right now, so I emptied out my big fat piggy bank and started a bike fund! Hopefully, we can find reasonably priced ones somewhere. {suggestions are welcome!}

big wishes.

Dakota found his way home and even knocked on the door!

Just kidding.

This was Jon's doing. He hooked Dakota's leash to the door, knocked, and then hid. This was who was sitting so patiently waiting for me to let him in!

We took a walk around downtown Greenville. It was nice to get out for a bit and just enjoy the beginning of summer. It's hot out, but I really do enjoy this time of the year.

Don and Ariun came home from Mongolia on Thursday. We missed their arrival. They had to head back to Statesboro and begin their summer adventures back home. We still decided to head over to my parents to sit with Nana and eat dinner with everyone.

We enjoyed our time being silly with Nana. She's a feisty one, that Nana.
VERY belated Mother's Day post!

I thought I'd give the mom's a shout out, too! After all, we all know how much they contributed to our lives and we are so blessed and grateful to have two wonderful, caring, and loving moms! We spent the weekend in Lexington, SC to celebrate not only Mother's day, but also Jessica's {Jon's older sister} birthday. We even saw G'Mom and O'Pa {Jon's grandparents on his dad's side}! I'm not sure how I got away from the weekend without any pictures, but I did. {Jess or Nancy, if you have any pictures from that weekend, I would love to have them} The following Monday, we had my mom over for dinner to celebrate with her! It was definitely a fun-filled weekend. I'm glad we were able to share it with so many wonderful ladies!

I am trying to stay on top of the posting to keep everyone updated! Our days seem to go by so quickly!

A Wedding in a Pine Tree with our Niece.

co-pilot

the driver for the weekend

Jon and I took our first road trip together as husband and wife to Pinehurst, NC. It may have actually been our first road trip ever in our 4 years of dating... well, at least staying the night and spending the entire weekend somewhere {not including our trips to Lexington, SC to visit with Jon's family}. We stayed with David,  Amy, and Estelle. What a wonderful thing it was to see and visit with these 3!

We arrived around midnight Friday night. We awoke Saturday morning to pancakes and a beautiful smiling little Estelle.

After a late morning {thanks to us, not the early risers in the Miller family}, we went to the farmer's market in downtown Southern Pines. It was very cute and quaint. Jon and I purchased corn, pole beans, and okra. I am now convinced that I have to make it out to our farmer's market right here in downtown Greenville. I love fresh food.

our very distant future everyone so happily reminds us about now that we're married

We made it back to Pinehurst for lunch. Estelle cracks me up when she eats! She makes the best faces! Amy and David prepared awesome sandwiches with cold cut meats, cheese, and bean sprouts. Jon and I have already looked at the store for bean sprouts {we're addicted}, but couldn't find any this last time.

food time!

That evening we made the hour and a half drive over to Apex, NC to see Kim and Mike tie the knot! What a fun wedding! It was so great to see so many old friends from middle school and high school. Kim, you were a beautiful bride! The happy couple is honeymooning in St. Lucia. Enjoy every minute of it. We wish you both the absolute best as you begin this new season in your life as one!

It was another late night for us, but Sunday morning was so enjoyable. David cooked up some french toast, and we all just played on the floor with Estelle.  So much fun!

Sadly, our visit had to come to an end. The real world of Monday was fast approaching. On the way home, we stopped at Cracker Barrel. All good road trips involve Cracker Barrel at some point.

Overall, it was a very successful trip. Thank you Mom and Dad Miller for keeping Dakota for us so we could make this trip a reality. Thank you David and Amy for letting us come visit and stay with you. It was so wonderful seeing you all. Thank you Kim and Mike for getting married and entertaining us on Saturday.

Yay for road trips and wonderful memories.
