A little bit of America.

We spent the week of July 4th in St. Augustine, Florida. This is a trip that Jon's family has taken for over 24 years! I've had the privilege of tagging along since 2007. It's such a fun trip and a neat little city. Not to mention, I thoroughly enjoy the beach.

Jon and I headed down to Lexington, SC on Friday night. On Saturday around 9 A.M., we all made the trek down to St. Augustine. Jon and I headed straight for the outlets to take advantage of July 4th sales. Jon enjoyed modeling his new shorts, a side part, and my LOFT shopping bag. Jon's parents, sister Jessica, and brother-in-law Chip made their way to the condo and checked in.

Sunday night, we enjoyed a day at the beach and dinner at Caps. It's one of my favorite restaurants. It sits on the canal with big trees covered with Spanish moss shading the area. Always a nice place to enjoy the sun setting and good eats with family.
Caps Restaurant - one of our favorites!
On Monday (July 4th!), we enjoyed a beach morning and mid-afternoon, walked along St. George Street late that afternoon, then headed to Barnicle Bills for dinner. Earl and Merle decided to join the trip. Earl and Merle were the tour guides of the evening and stayed around until Wednesday. {note: Jon was Earl, I was Merle}. Earl and Merle lived in the great sunny state and well, they were from America. They loved the 4th of July, naturally. Everything to them was a little bit of America... especially the fireworks.

this guy thought he was a flag pole. no joke, he said it himself. also, the man in the red hat, that's the real Forest Gump.

On Tuesday, we enjoyed the morning at the beach. We headed to O.C. Whites for a late lunch/dinner. We were headed on a pirate ship for the evening! Quite an entertaining little boat ride. Nancy was called up on the platform and sung to by one of the pirates. During the last song, one the pirates stood Jon up and sang to him. Haha. They were both a little embarrassed, but it was very enjoyable for the rest of us! :)

Jon and I unfortunately had to cut our trip short and head home to Greenville on Wednesday. We decided to head downtown St. Augustine one last time to enjoy the St. George Street shops and grab lunch. We decided to try out the Florida Cracker and eat grilled fish sandwiches and root beer. They were quite yummy!

What a fun, fun trip indeed! Thank you to mom and dad Harris for keeping up the tradition and taking such good care of us when we're able to join in on the fun!
